3. Can I receive email alerts when someone responds to my conversation?

Yes, you can. Whether to receive an email alert when a reply is submitted to a conversation or comment that you started is a Preference setting that can be toggled on or off globally for all of your conversations and comments.

By default this setting is toggled on, so that you will receive email alerts to all replies to your conversations and comments. To toggle it off for all conversations and comments, do the following:

  • Click on the "Preferences" link in the upper right hand corner of the Hub (you must be logged-in to the Hub)
  • Scroll down to the "Additional Settings" section, and look for the item "Yes, want email notifications when someone replies".
  • Ensure it is checked if you want email notifications, or that it is not checked if you do not.
  • Click the "Save Settings" button if you made a change that you want to keep.

Regardless of what your global preference is on this account for email alerts, you can turn the email alert feature on or off on each conversation or comment that you post to the Hub.

When you are creating a conversation or comment,

  • scroll down to "Advanced Options" section
  • click on the circle with the double down arrows to the left of the "Advanced Options" term. This will pop open a box of options.
  • Find the item "Alert me by email when replies occur"
  • toggle it on or off depending on whether you want to receive email alerts or not respectively.

More specifically, Kalivo provides marketing professionals with software solutions that engage their customers on the Web to increase lead generation, lead conversion, and customer loyalty. Kalivo's solutions capitalize on the latest technologies available which enable individuals to engage in two-way conversations, and build relationships and professional networks on the Web.

We believe the current Web environment presents an unprecedented opportunity for marketers to develop deeper relationships with their customers, and for customers to significantly increase their influence with companies that serve them. Our solutions enable both companies and customers to capitalize on this unprecedented opportunity.

6. Who would benefit from using Kalivo?
We believe everyone benefits from open, efficient, and honest dialog.

With Kalivo, marketers get an unprecedented ability to identify customers and prospects when and where they engage on the Web, then engage directly with these parties. The ensuing two-way dialog can increase leads, improve lead conversion, and enhance a company's products and services delivery.

Customers benefit from the increased ability that Kalivo provides them to voice their opinions, concerns, feedback and recommendations about a company and its products. By openly engaging and sharing their viewpoints, customers can readily identify which companies will best serve their needs and help ensure that offerings continue to be produced that address other unmet opportunities.

While marketers and customers are the primary constituencies, we believe the insight and access that Kalivo provides a company to its customers, prospects and other industry experts will significantly help the company better serve is target markets and generate financial returns. The visibility into customer viewpoints will aid senior executives in operating the business, and the ensuing increase in customer loyalty from a company's emphasis on customer needs has been proven to drive financial returns.

7. What does the name Kalivo mean?
We would love to say something clever, but in the spirit of full disclosure, we are sorry to say it has no special meaning related to our market ... yet. However, we find it cool and effective. With few dot-com domain names available, this was one that was available and met some critical marketing criteria: namely it's short (three syllables), memorable, has easy voice to text translation, and has a couple of hard consonants giving it a strong presence.

After the fact, we discovered there is a Kalivo Hill of some significance during the 3rd century BC located in the Butrint region of southern Albania. Maybe we'll visit someday.

9. What is RSS?

Technical jargon aside, RSS is a way for you to subscribe to content so that it is delivered to you directly. Just as you would subscribe to a magazine to receive it in your mailbox at home rather than going to the publisher's office to read every new article or issue, RSS enables Kalivo to deliver new conversations and comments from Kalivo's Community to your computer. Think of it as a way to populate your own personal magazine on your computer desktop every day. It is a great way to stay on top of web conversations across many blogs, hubs, communities, and forums. Sources can be as varied as individuals to Espn.com to the Washington Post.

Unfortunately the use of RSS is not as simple as it could be yet. In order to receive content from our site, you will need to do two things:

First, you need an RSS reader. Some options include: Bloglines, Microsoft Outlook, Newsgator, MyYahoo, Google Reader, Safari (for Macintosh users), Blogbridge, and a host of others. The RSS reader will enable you to receive new content and read the content on your computer desktop.

Second, once your RSS reader is set up, you will need to copy the relevant RSS link from the Kalivo website, and paste the link in your RSS Reader. RSS links are identified on Kalivo's website by this icon. Each RSS Reader has its own location for where you paste new RSS subscription links, so you'll have to refer to the documentation on your RSS Reader to know where to paste the link. Once that is set up, your RSS Reader will continually pull in new content from Kalivo.

For those that want a further understanding of the history and technical details about RSS, read this entry on Wikipedia.  For another summary of RSS try this AP Business article.

12. How long does it take to start using Kalivo?
Kalivo's software services can be running live for our customers as quickly as five days of receiving a signed contract.

However, we do recommend a minimum of a two to four week process to make critical business process and branding decisions for the Kalivo Customer Hub and Kalivo Professional Hub solutions. Kalivo can provide customer engagement business process consulting and hub launch services to ensure that business objectives will be efficiently and effectively achieved.
