Kalivo 101

Also, is it possible to have some sort of Kalivo 101 training. Paul has asked me to assume responsibility for this project and I'd like to develop a more in depth understanding of the possibilities. I'm a newbie blogger which I think is helpful because I can view things from the perspective of our CIOs. My immediate feedback is that when you come to your page, it's not clear what action should be taken. There are a lot of termst ath may be unfamiliar "Personal RSS"- what is this, why do I want my own; "Poll the HUB"- who are they? why is this useful?; "Tag Cloud"- what is this?
Many of our users will be like me and will not be bloggers and these terms will be relatively meaningless. The site seems to assume a much higher knowledge level than may exisit. I realize that we will determine the content, but need to understand it all so I can figure out how to translate it for new users.
Also, once I post something will I recevie an email letting me know someone has responded or do I need to keep coming out here to search for a response?
Finally, when I create a message like this, I think directly under the dialog box you should have a button that says "post". As it stands now, you have to scroll down past several unfamiliar things such as "tags", to find "Create" listed under Advanced options. I think this needs to be a much cleaner process.

Usability improvements
by Brian on 2006-11-02 04:29 PM read 839 times |
Thanks Kimberly - great comments.
As a beta customer of Kalivo, we will provide you with on-site training and can schedule that as soon as you are ready. Your Kalivo instance is already up and running, so we can begin to work directly on your Kalivo service as part of the training.
You make some good points on usability improvements and this feedback is exactly what is needed to make the Kalivo service deliver on its value proposition. We will address your points in the training, and incorporate improvements into the software service. Also, we will respond to the concerns and "how-to" questions here on the Kalivo Hub so others may be able to get up and running on Kalivo faster and find using Kalivo Hubs increasingly intuitive. This is certainly our goal.
We can answer a couple of questions immediately, which I'm going to do below and as a separate reply to this conversation so I may tag some of them as a separate FAQ item and others can find the specific item.
Regarding the Tag Cloud, you can set that term to be whatever you'd like it to be in your installation. That may start to help describe it better. We are also looking into providing "?" icons on those sections which would present FAQs.
The RSS items in the Subscribe section have some FAQ items written about them that may help - they can be found here. If these FAQs are not explanatory enough, feel free to post a comment on the FAQ item itself and we will attempt to enhance it.
Contact us about scheduling a Kalivo 101 training.

Training Date- Tuesday, November 7th?

Great. Could we schedule some time for Tuesday the 7th? I'd love to allocate 2 1/2- 3 hours hoping that we don't use all of it. Ideally what I'd like to do is go to your page as though I'm a new user and walk through everything as though I'm discovering it on my own. That way, I can share my initial, uninformed impressions and encounter the same things that other novices users will experience.
I realize this is a huge time committment but I do believe it could be mutually beneficial. I'm happy to meet here at MessageOne or at your offices. I'm available anytime between 8:30 and 4:00.

Thanks for the feedback
by Brittain on 2006-11-02 04:37 PM read 702 times |
Brian covered most everything ... re: your question about receiving an e-mail alert upon reply: that option can be found in the Advanced Options box, beneath the WYSIWIG editor and Tags box. By default on Kalivo.com you will receive e-mail alerts.
Thanks again.
