Hub upgraded to 2.1.1!
by terry on 2008-09-25 08:37 PM read 168 times |
The Hub (aka nGen Collaboration) has been updated to Rails 2.1.1. It was previously on Rails 1.1.6, which *required* us to use RubyGems < 0.9.6. All of this caused a lot of troubles for people installing their machines for the first time and for people trying to use new plugins for Rails.
Those problems are (hopefully) all done now.
If you get the latest trunk version, you'll need to do the following, at least:
gem update rails
It's probably better to go all out and also do a "gem update --system" (updates your RubyGems version) and a "gem update", but the conservative approach should suffice.
Be sure to explicitly update your config directory, also.

Windows user problems with gem update
If you are a 2nd class rails citizen (Yay Windows!) and you want to go all out with gem update, here is how to do it:

have you ever thought that maybe it's you, and not windows?
soon we'll be able to put the gem dependencies in environment.rb. not until we get the rest of the hubs off of old school rails, though, because right now we have to use old rubygems on those machines, and it doesn't work with the rake install gems task on rails 2.
