ApplicationException vs Exception in .NET

There have been recent discussions as to how the ApplicationException class is useless and its use should be discontinued. All exceptions should now be derived from the base Exception class. A nice explanation of this can be found here

Interesting reason why. Makes me appreciate architecture verifiers such as Architecture Rules
