Utilization Patterns
belongs to Storage Service Info ![]() by Marc S. Schriftman on 2008-07-01 08:09 PM read 443 times |
Thought y'all might enjoy seeing the cost breakdown for the storage service. The utilization pattern (more writes than reads) is certainly atypical, but I'll post future bills here and it'll be interesting to watch the growth patterns.
$0.15 per GB-Month of storage used - 1.249 GB-Mo - 0.19
$0.100 per GB - all data transfer in - 0.435 GB - 0.04
$0.170 per GB - first 10 TB / month data transfer out - 1.056 GB - 0.18
$0.01 per 1,000 PUT, POST, or LIST requests - 235527 Requests - 2.36
$0.01 per 10,000 GET and all other requests - 63724 Requests - 0.06

Why are the PUTs and GETs in such as unexpected ratio (more writes than reads)?

This was in large part due to the transfer of the documents from the local repository to the remote repository. Because of some missing metadata, the upload was repeated few times. Judging by the logs, the normal pattern will be more like 50:1 GETs to PUTs.
